A candidate for Trillium District Councillor in the Kingston Municipal Election for a Beautiful, Prosper, Safe and Healthy Kingston.

Not a proxy for any interest group.

I am Dr. Prakash Dayal — I hold a doctoral degree from one of the world's topmost universities, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich in Switzerland. My career spans more than 25 years across academia and industries, including work for Queen's University and ESG Solutions—a microseismology-centered company—both based in Kingston.

I am running because this district deserves someone who reads the budget, asks the hard questions, and brings a vision that extends far beyond basic infrastructure and standard services.

My vision, stand and demands:

No support to Hamas or such terrorist organizations.

Demand for lower property taxes, jobs creation, industrialization in Kingston.

Ban on face covering veil and women subjugation. Equality between men and women. Severe criminalization of female genital mutilation. For a healthy and better next generation, municipal funded public awareness program against genetic-disorders-prone first-cousin marriages. Municipal funded promotion of scientific temperament.

Special funding, free land-allocation and grant to the startup companies originating from the innovations from Queen's University.

Healthy Kingston and lower food cost: Promotion of backyard vegetables gardening. No GST/HST taxes on seedlings, vegetable-plants, fertilizers, soil, gardening-tools, etc. for such purpose. Promotion of Canada's food guide. See FAQ.

Early identification and severe prosecution of pedophiles and children-abusing grooming gangs; we must protect Canada from these savages whose "values" do not align with Canadian values.

Beautiful Kingston: No GST/HST taxes on flower plants. See FAQ.

Only standard swimming suits in public swimming pools (no unhygienic regular attire).

Better and happy lifestyle: 5% GST/HST taxes in restaurants and zero eventually. See FAQ.

No public-funded support to male-dominated invasion from terror infested countries in the disguise of asylum or immigration. There must be strict scrutiny and gender parity in this regard.

Cleaner city, better road and signage, affordable housing, neighborhood safety.

Improving services with a better management, not with higher taxes.

Stronger Canadian Dollar: Growth of industries in Canada and investment in Canadian market instead of investing abroad. When Canada has a trade surplus, why is the Canadian dollar still falling?

Rigorous promotion of tourist destinations like the Thousand Islands and Sandbanks Provincial Park, positioning Kingston as the central hub city.

Lower property taxes

Every year the levy climbs and the potholes stay. I'll vote against reflexive increases and demand a line-by-line review before council asks residents for another dollar.

Land and grants for Queen's spinouts

Research invented here becomes a company somewhere else. Free municipal land, targeted grants and dedicated startup space would keep those companies — and those jobs — in Kingston.

Cheaper food, grown at home

Groceries are the squeeze people feel weekly. Municipal support for backyard vegetable gardening, community plots and seedling access — plus a refund scheme for the sales tax on growing supplies.

How to vote in the Trillium District

When and where do I vote?

Ontario municipal elections fall on the fourth Monday of October — Monday, October 26, 2026. Voting locations, advance polls and any online or mail options are set by the City of Kingston Clerk's office. Watch for your voter notification card.

Am I in the Trillium District?

Kingston elects one councillor per district. The City publishes a district lookup by address — enter your street and it will tell you which ballot you receive. If Trillium comes back, I'm on it.

What party do you represent?

None. Ontario municipal elections are non-partisan — no party labels appear on the ballot. I'm running as an independent resident with no interest group behind me.

Can one councillor actually cut my taxes?

One councillor is one vote, so no single member sets the rate. What a councillor can do is scrutinise the budget in committee, vote against increases, publish where the money goes, and build a majority for restraint.
